Acne Treatment

Treatment for acne at Renew MD Facial Aesthetics

If traditional therapies including topicals and medications have not effectively addressed your acne, we at Renew MD Facial Aesthetics have an alternative solution. We offer NeoClear by Aerolase — a laser therapy that has been proven to yield desired results.

What causes acne?

Apart from genetics and hormonal changes, the most common causes of acne include:

  • Accumulation of dead skin cells
  • Excess sebum production (sebum is a waxy, oily substance that lubricates the skin)
  • Inflammation of the deeper skin layers
  • Bacterial infection
  • Low levels of collagen in the skin promote the formation of acne scars

What is NeoClear?

NeoClear is an effective therapy from Aerolase for treating moderate to severe acne on the face, torso, and all skin types. Using the Aerolase 650 technology, NeoClear delivers powerful yet gentle laser energy directly on the area of the skin to be treated. As the laser penetrates the skin’s deeper layers, it destroys the acne-causing bacteria, reduces sebum production, and mitigates inflammation.

An added benefit of NeoClear is that it stimulates the production of collagen, the skin health protein that restores volume, suppleness, and strength of the skin. The unique laser technology is a non-invasive approach to treating acne and is suitable for all skin types and age groups.

NeoClear addresses the existing acne breakout and reduces the risk of future breakouts. The new collagen formed helps prevent acne scar formation, which is one of the most distressing consequences of acne.

Before & After
Acne Treatment

NeoClear acne treatment procedure

At Renew MD Facial Aesthetics, Dr. Alexis Gordon, M.D., F.A.C.S., a board-certified physician and surgeon, oversees all treatments. Scheduling a consultation with her is the first step to getting rid of acne. While reviewing your skin and overall health history, she determines your candidacy for NeoClear and explains the procedure, the after-care, and the expected results.

We advise you to remove any makeup or lotions. Then your provider uses the NeoClear laser device to deliver light energy to the entire affected area that will destroy acne-causing bacteria and reduce sebum production. After the treatment is completed, your provider will apply a smooth Hyaluronic Acid to boost hydration and sunscreen to combat any damaging UV rays.

The laser also encourages collagen production that improves the skin’s overall texture, tone, and volume. In the second step, your provider addresses active acne lesions by directing the laser energy on each lesion, helping to reduce inflammation and skin redness.
