PDO Threads

Minimally-invasive procedure that lifts and tightens sagging skin

A PDO thread lift is a non-surgical specialized treatment that lifts sagging skin back into place, giving you a gentle and natural lift. When PDO threads are inserted into your skin, the threads tighten the loose dermal tissues, helping you instantly take years off your face.

At Renew MD Facial Aesthetics, we are a leading PDO thread lift facility in Southlake, Texas. Contact us today to schedule a session.

What are PDO threads made of?

PDO threads are made using a synthetic polymer called Polydioxanone. It is a biocompatible material that is very safe when sutured into the skin. Within 4-6 months of the PDO thread lift, the threads dissolve in the tissues, leaving behind collagen and elastin resulting in a tighter more youthful appearance.

At our Southlake clinic, Dr. Alexis Gordon uses NovaThreads, a cutting-edge type of PDO thread of the highest quality. Very gentle on the skin, the NovaThreads help securely lift loose tissues.

How do they work?

NovaThreads stimulate collagen and elastin production in the skin. As the threads are sutured into your skin, micro-injuries are created in the dermal tissues. Your skin increases the production of collagen and elastin to heal these injuries and reconnect torn skin tissue fibers. During the next few months, as the NovaThreads dissolve, they continue stimulating collagen production, strengthening your skin, and reducing signs of aging.

Types of NovaThreads we use

NovaThreads come in three varieties, allowing our specialist to treat people with different skin thicknesses and textures. These threads are available in different lengths as well, allowing us to suture deep into the skin and treat a large section of the skin using a single thread.

Smooth NovaThreads: These smooth threads are used to provide minor lifting. They are used to tighten the skin and reduce the appearance of minor lines and large pores.

Barbed NovaThreads: These threads contain very tiny hook-like barbs that sink into the tissues and pull up the sagging tissues.

Twist NovaThreads: These threads are actually a collection of multiple threads that have the strength to pull up sections of the skin that have a sunken appearance.

PDO thread lift procedure at Renew MD Facial Aesthetics

The PDO thread lift procedure starts with a consultation. We identify the areas of sagging on your face and neck region and determine which type of NovaThreads we need to use.

During the treatment, we numb your face using a skin-friendly numbing ointment. Then, a small entrance point is made with delicate precision. Dr. Gordon will gently insert the NovaThreads using a blunt cannula (needle tip) where the lift is needed. Once the threads are in place, we pull out the cannula and gently pull on the threads to tighten them. After both Dr. Gordon and you are satisfied with the results achieved, the excess thread will be safely cut and antibacterial ointment will be administered to the entry point.

What can be treated using NovaThreads?

NovaThreads are highly-effective in lifting and treating conditions like:

  • Frown lines
  • Marionette lines
  • Smoker’s lines
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Crow’s feet
  • Neck folds
  • Loose jawline

Dr. Gordon is highly-experienced in addressing the cosmetic needs of patients with diverse conditions. She can create a customized PDO thread lift treatment for you that yields the results you desire.

Caring for yourself after PDO threading

Don’t stretch your facial muscles too much for 1-2 weeks after the treatment. This can snap the threads. Defer any dental procedures for a month after getting the NovaThreads. Sleep on your back and don’t put any pressure on your face or neck. Don’t poke the treated area, as this can affect skin tightening.

How often should you get PDO threads?

PDO threads last in your skin for about 4-6 months, but the collagen production effect lasts for several more months. Usually, you will notice the youthfulness, volumizing, and lifting effects from the PDO threads for about nine months or more after the procedure. After the initial procedure, we do recommend seeing you back for collagen boosting maintenance treatments. We welcome patients from all over DFW, including Keller, Dallas, Flower Mound, Trophy Club, Westlake, Grapevine, Fort Worth, Alliance, and Roanoke.
