Laser Hair Removal
Southlake

The most effective method of removing unwanted hair

Does body hair affect your personal and professional life? Excess body hair can limit the wardrobe we own. It can also affect our self-confidence, preventing us from living life to the fullest. With laser hair removal, you can easily address body hair quickly and prevent having to undergo hair removal over and over again.

At Renew MD Facial Aesthetics, we have a fully-equipped, state-of-the-art laser med spa facility, where you can get the most customized and targeted laser hair removal Southlake has to offer.

How does laser hair removal work?

Conventional hair removal techniques like tweezing, waxing, and shaving only remove the upper part of the hair. The roots of the hair or hair follicles are still present, lodged under the surface of the skin. As long as these follicles remain undamaged and alive, they will continue to produce new hair.

The laser hair removal procedure is used to target these hair follicles. The heat from the laser is directed towards the hair follicles, and the dark pigments in the follicles absorb the laser light. This heat shrivels the follicle and kills it. After a few days, the hair on the treatment site will fall off, leaving behind smooth and soft skin.

Is laser hair removal permanent?

Laser hair removal offers a semi-permanent solution to hair growth. Once the hair follicles are fully destroyed, they are unable to heal and won’t produce new hair. These follicles are permanently gone. Sometimes, because of the follicle’s shape or location, the hair follicle may be only partially-destroyed and they may heal within 2-3 years, leading to hair growth in those regions after a few years. Clinical studies show up to 80% reduction after three treatments.

Our laser hair removal Southlake experts carefully target each section of the treatment site to ensure that all of the hair is effectively removed.

Who can undergo laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal may be right for you if:

  • You are self-conscious because of body hair
  • Your wardrobe has become very limited because of body hair
  • You don’t want to spend too much on frequent hair removal treatments
  • You want a long-term solution to body hair problems
  • You have been diagnosed with hypertrichosis and your physician has recommended laser hair removal as a treatment to manage your condition

Is there anyone who can’t undergo the treatment?

For laser hair removal to work, your hair needs to have dark melanin pigments. Hair with light pigments, such as light red, grey, white, and blonde, aren’t anatomically able to absorb the laser heat as well as dark hair can. So, the treatment may not be that effective. However, at Renew MD Facial Aesthetics, Dr. Gordon and the team can suggest alternative treatments to yield similar results.

Additionally, it’s better to postpone your treatment if you are currently pregnant or have a skin infection that can flare up because of the laser. If you frequent the tanning booths or like to tan in the sun, we recommend not getting the laser for at least two weeks after your last prolonged sun exposure.

Candela GentleMax Pro for comfortable laser hair removal

At our med spa, we use the cutting-edge Syneron Candela GentleMax dual-platform laser to provide the laser hair removal treatment. The laser comprises of the 1064nm Nd: YAG laser and 755nm Alexandrite laser, whose dual-wavelengths allow us to not only remove hair follicles, but also address other conditions like discoloration, vascular lesions, bumps, and more. The GentleMax is very gentle on the skin, directing precise beams of laser heat to the hair follicle while also delivering cryogen to simultaneously cool the skin for a comfortable treatment.

The laser hair removal treatment is an in-clinic treatment. We ask you to shave the treatment site within 24 hours before the procedure. Carefully, we laser each section of the treatment area, ensuring all the hair follicles are targeted. Once we are finished, we apply a soothing gel on your skin to reduce tenderness, redness, and swelling.
