What is Belotero made of?

Belotero is a dermal filler that is made using hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance within our skin. The hyaluronic acid contains essential nutrients that dissolve in your skin. The soft consistency of the Belotero gel makes it particularly suitable for injecting areas of the skin that have finer folds and lines.

Belotero vs. other dermal fillers

Belotero joins the ranks of other hyaluronic dermal fillers like Juvederm, Restylane, and Revanesse. Belotero is different in terms of the conditions it treats and the areas it can be effectively used on.

Belotero is very ideal for lines at the surface of the skin. This allows our practitioner to make only superficial punctures when injecting the gel into your skin. On the other hand, products like Juvederm and Revanesse work deeper in the skin and need to be injected into the deeper layers of the dermis.

This feature of Belotero also prevents the development of bumps after the treatment, resulting in a smooth and natural appearance.

How is Belotero injected?

At Renew MD Facial Aesthetics, Dr. Gordon starts the process by identifying the areas where you need Belotero. She then chooses the product based on your bespoke needs.

Belotero doesn’t require any additional numbing agent since it comes with lidocaine, but for your comfort we do apply a thin layer of local numbing cream to the treatment site. Dr. Gordon attaches small vials of Belotero to a fresh needle and gently injects the gel into your treatment area. The number of syringes used depends on the number of areas you need to be treated and how severe the lines are. If the filler needs to be contoured, Dr. Gordon gently massages it into place. The entire procedure can be completed in 15-30 minutes.

Post-treatment recovery tips

The treated areas may be slightly swollen. If you have thin skin or weak veins, you may experience minor bleeding from the injection site. These should subside in a few hours.

You must not move your facial muscles too much for at least a day to prevent the Belotero filler from moving out of place. So, any activity that causes you to wrinkle your face should be avoided for some time.

There is minimal downtime after the treatment and you can return to work immediately. We recommend planning out your filler two weeks prior to any big events or occasion.

How long do results last?

You’ll notice an immediate difference in how you look after the procedure, but it takes a few weeks for the hyaluronic acid in Belotero to strengthen your dermal fibers.

In a few weeks, your face will look shapely and smooth, with supple skin. Depending on how well you care for your skin, the results of Belotero last for 6-8 months.
